WestConn Women's Lacrosse Earns Three LEC Weekly Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Western Connecticut State University collected three of the four Little East Conference (LEC) Women's Lacrosse weekly awards based on their fine play in two games last week.  Senior Madison Ratchford (Ridge, N.Y.) was named the LEC Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, junior Madison Preston (Brookfield, Conn.) was honored as the LEC Defensive Player of the Week, and freshman Charlize Wolf (Moseley, Va.) earned the LEC Rookie of the Week.  WestConn, coached by Rachael Griffith (3rd Season), is currently 6-3 overall and 2-0 in the conference and will visit league rival Plymouth State next on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Ratchford had two goals and an assist in an 11-4 loss to No. 21-ranked Trinity College and notched seven goals and four assists in a 26-4 victory against Castleton, giving her nine goals and five assists for 14 total points. She also had three ground balls, a caused turnover and four draw controls against the Bantams and eight ground balls, five caused turnovers, and 10 draw controls versus the Spartans.  Preston had two ground balls and two caused turnovers against Trinity and four ground balls and three caused turnovers versus Castleton, giving her six ground balls and five caused turnovers over the 1-1 week.  Wolf notched two goals and three assists against the Spartans after tallying a pair of assists in the loss to the nationally-ranked Bantams, giving her two goals and seven total points for the week.
