Nikolas Chevres (Miami, Fla.) and first-year forward
Matthews Rocha (Danbury, Conn.) were named as Little East Conference (LEC) Athletes of the Week on Monday, following a 2-0 week for the Western Connecticut State University men's soccer team. The Wolves are currently ona four-game win streak.
Chevres led a back line that posted a pair of shutout victories for the Wolves last week. WestConn limited John Jay to seven shots (four on-goal) in a 6-0 win on Wednesday before limiting LEC-rival UMass Dartmouth to seven shots (five on-goal) in a 1-0 league victory on Saturday. Chevres played all 90 minutes in the win over the Corsairs. WestConn has not allowed a goal in over 452 minutes and has yielded only 18 shots-on-goal in its last five games.
Rocha scored three goals over a pair of WestConn wins last week. He scored the first two goals of his collegiate career in the Wolves 6-0 non-conference rout of John Jay Wednesday before scoring the lone goal of the match in a league win over UMass Dartmouth Saturday.
