PLYMOUTH, N.H. — Four Wolves scored as
Nickolas Santana (New Haven, Conn.) netted a pair, while
Jeffrey Norales (Bronx, N.Y.),
Nikolas Chevres (Miami, Fla.) and
Ernesto Barrosa (Madison, Conn.) connected for one each in the Western Connecticut State University men's soccer team's 5-0 shutout over Little East Conference (LEC) opponent Plymouth State University on Saturday. The Wolves extended their winning streak to four and improved to 4-4-2 overall and 2-0 in the league, while the Panthers dropped to 2-4-1 and 0-1-1.
The teams went scoreless in the first half before Santana put WestConn on the board in the 55th minute of play off a high right goal with a helper from
Aidan Roxo (Danbury, Conn.), and quickly followed by another tally 14 seconds later by Norales for his first goal this season to give the Wolves an early 2-0 lead.
Chevres padded the lead by one in the 67th minute following a visitor's throw-in and the pass from
Gabriel Lopes (Danbury, Conn.). For his second goal of the contest, Santana's high center goal two minutes later extended the Wolves' lead to 4-0 at the 68-minute mark.
Barrosa scored his first career goal in the 73rd minute for WestConn's final goal of the game off another Wolves' throw-in.
Makai Smith (Bridgeport, Conn.) and
Justin Rivest (Repetigny, Quebec) shared time in the goal, but didn't face any shots on goal.
WestConn returns home to face non-conference foe John Jay College on September 24 for a 4 p.m. game at the Westside Stadium.
