BOSTON, Mass. - Senior Kevin Wood (Bethel, Conn.) finished sixth in the shot put with a distance if 39'06.50", as the Western Connecticut State University Wolves spent two days competing in The Showdown at the Heights Men's Indoor Track and Field Meet at The Track at New Balance this weekend.  Wood was one of three WestConn competitors in the event, as sophomore Kenneth Scholl (East Islip, N.Y.) was 11th at 34'05.75" and junior Thomas Larkin (Highland Falls, N.Y.) placed 13th at 30'02.25".  WestConn heads to the New York City Armory next for the NYU Invitational on Saturday, February 15.

In the sprints, WestConn sophomore Kenneth Okoroafor (Trumbull, Conn.) finished one spot shy of qualifying for the finals with the ninth-best time of 7.11 in the 60-meter preliminaries.  Wolves senior Tyler Loth (Bethel, Conn.) was 12th in the 60-meter dash (7.13) and 13th in the 200-meter dash (22.24).  WestConn freshman Marciel Do Amaral (Danbury, Conn.) added a ninth-place time of 9.23 in the 60-meter hurdles, while the Wolves' distance medley relay earned a time of 11:47.75 to take third of three entries.
