Piao Placed Second in Long Jump to Close Out Silfen Invitational

NEW LONDON, Conn. — Zenghan Piao (Fairfield, Conn.) claimed second in the long jump as the Western Connecticut State University men's outdoor track & field team closed out day two of the Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College on Saturday. Piao leapt for 6.45 meters, just 0.04 meters behind first place. 

Isaiah Dominguez (Norwalk, Conn.) threw for 36.91 meters to earn 10th in the discus.

On day one of the Invitational, Ed Dalton (Naugatuck, Conn.) placed fifth with a personal best time of 16:08.08, while Alex Neves (Danbury, Conn.) placed ninth overall in the 5000-meter run. Neves clocked in at 16:15.88, just .30 seconds behind eighth place.

In the 3000-meter steeplechase elite, Nick Howlett (North Haven, Conn.) finished eighth with a time of 10:29.89 and came in ninth with a time of 4:30.79 in the 1500-meter run.

WestConn competes at the Bonnie Edmonson Classic, hosted by Eastern Connecticut State University, on April 17.
