WestConn Men's Track And Field Ties For 10th At Trinity Invitational

HARTFORD, Conn. - Junior Quasim Benson (Wilmington, Del.) finished third in the long jump at 20'17.75" to lead the Western Connecticut State University Wolves to a tie for 10th place in the Trinity Men's Outdoor Track and Field Invitational at Trinity College this afternoon.  WestConn, which, competed in the Bonnie Edmondson Invitational at Eastern Connecticut State University yesterday, tied Union College for 10th place with 13 points.  Rensselaer won the team title with 144 points.  WestConn will start the championship season next Saturday with the Little East Conference (LEC) Championship Meet at Eastern Connecticut.

Benson's leap with a quarter inch shy of second place and less than a foot behind the first-place finisher.  WestConn freshman Alex Neves (Danbury, Conn.) added a fifth-pace finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:26.65.  The Wolves 4x100-meter relay, consisting of Benson, sophomores Ryan Andryuk (Goshen, N.Y.) and Marciel Do Amaral (Danbury, Conn.), and freshman Aidan Kane (Woodstock, Conn.), posted a sixth-place time of 44.23 seconds.  WestConn freshman Nicco Nardecchia (Orange, Conn.) was 11th in the long jump, junior Zenghan Piao (Fairfield, Conn.) placed 12th in the high jump, and freshman Daniel Nalbation (Danbury, Conn.) was 14th in the shot put.
