PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Senior
Tyler Loth (Bethel, Conn.) finished third in both the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash, as the Western Connecticut State University Wolves competed in their first-ever men's track and field meet and took third place as a squad in the Plymouth Winter Classic at Bank of New Hampshire Field House this afternoon. WestConn totaled 36 points, 30 better than fourth-place VTSU-Randolph, while the host Plymouth State Panthers won the team title with 193 points. The Wolves will be back in action in 2025 when they visit Brandeis University for the Reggie Poyau Invitational on January 18.
Loth posted the fastest preliminary time of the day in the 60 meters at 7.19 and placed third in the finals in that event with a 7.15. He registered a time of 23.21 in the 200 meters to earn 12 points in the two races. The Wolves had three runners among the top seven in the 400-meter run, led by senior
Michael Neary (Litchfield, Conn.) who posted a fourth-place time of 57.52. Junior
Ethan Alexander (Chapachet, R.I.)) was fifth and freshman
Colby Gedney (Barrington, N.H.) took seventh. WestConn senior
Eric Rohm (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) was fourth in the mile run with a time of 4:50.89 and freshman
Marciel Do Amaral (Danbury, Conn.) posted a fourth-place time of 9.20 in the 60-meter hurdles. Senior
Nick Howlett (North Haven, Conn.) rounded out the scoring for the Wolves individual runners with a sixth-place finish among college runners in the 3,000-meter run. Highlighting the field events, WestConn sophomore
Gary Schulte (Milford, Conn.) finished sixth in the shot out at 10.85 meters and rookie Zhenghan Piao (Fairfield, Conn.) was seventh in the long jump with a distance of 5.65 meters.
