DANBURY, Conn. - Each week, WestConn Athletics selects one female and one male student-athlete as the Wolves of the Week, recognizing their outstanding performances in their respective sports from the previous week. The honorees are announced every Wednesday.
The 27th Wolves of the Week in 2025-26 academic year for their stellar performances on the lacrosse turf and the softball diamond. Men's lacrosse sophomore
Jake Kelly (Bethpage, N.Y.) and softball sophomore
Julia Valukis (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) were named Wolves of the Week.
Kelly backstopped the Wolves to an 8-7 non-conference win over Montclair State with 11 saves to hand the Red Hawks just their second loss of the season. He had a scoreless second period and had two saves that quarter. His .611 save percentage was his third-highest in a single game this season.
Valukis went 3-for-7 with two doubles and two RBIs in a doubleheader against Vermont State University Castleton. She went 2-for-4 with a double that gave WestConn a 6-5 lead over the Spartans in the fifth inning of the first game. She also threw a runner out at home from deep in the outfield in the opening game against Castleton.
