WestConn's Annual Wolves Day Of Giving Coming Thursday

DANBURY, Conn.  Western Connecticut State University's annual Wolves Day of Giving, a daylong event that focuses on the gift of the student-athlete experience, is coming on Thursday, February 26. The Wolves Day of Giving is a powerful 24-hour celebration of pride, passion, and philanthropic impact in support of the WestConn Wolves.  All contributions made during the Wolves Day of Giving will directly impact Western Connecticut State University Athletics and its students.

"Wolves Day of Giving is more than a fundraiser.  It is an opportunity to invest in opportunity," said WestConn Director of Athletics Lori Mazza. "Gifts of all sizes directly enhance the student-athlete experience by supporting equipment upgrades, international travel, leadership programming, and branding improvements.  Our student-athletes compete with heart, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.  Wolves Day of Giving allows people to stand behind them in a meaningful way and ensure they continue to thrive both in competition and in the classroom."

On Thursday,  alumni/ae, parents, friends, faculty, staff, and fans are invited to unite in support of more than 600 WestConn student-athletes who proudly represent the university across 22 varsity sports. This annual event underscores the vital role athletics plays in shaping leadership, resilience, teamwork, and lifelong success.  The WestConn athletic department event is running for the eighth consecutive year and is being conducted concurrently with the University's Wolves Day of Giving for the third year in a row.

"We can really feel the excitement on campus for our Day of Giving", said WestConn baseball junior Thomas Keough. "It supports our program and helps provide an incredible experience for our team by helping us fund our Spring break trip to Myrtle Beach."

Throughout the day, supporters will have opportunities to participate in challenge matches, team-specific initiatives, and social media campaigns designed to amplify impact and build momentum. Every gift helps strengthen the championship culture and holistic development that defines WestConn Athletics.  As the Wolves continue to elevate their competitive success and campus impact, this collective day of generosity ensures that the momentum continues.

"A day of giving is more than just raising funds.  It is a powerful reminder that our athletes are supported, valued, and believed in. When we give, we are investing in character, teamwork, leadership, and lifelong lessons. Thank you for supporting our athletes," said WestConn Head Women's Basketball Coach Maria Conlon.
