WestConn Women's Basketball's Virtue Receives CSC Academic All-District Honors

Several Wolves Earn Academic Accolades In 2024-25

DANBURY, Conn.. — Western Connecticut State University senior Alyssa Virtue (Groton, Conn.) was named to the 2024 CSC Division III Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team for the third consecutive season.  She also joined Wolves seniors Francesca Foster (Mystic, Conn.) and Nicole Peralta (North Windham, Conn.) on the Little East Conference (LEC) Winter All-Academic Team and all three graced the LEC 2024-25 Fall/Spring Academic Honor Rolls along with freshmen teammates Gianna Castellano (East Haven, Conn.), Deona Garcia (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.), Kassandra Ogando (Newington, Conn.), and Dre'Anna Singleton (Groton, Conn.).

The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.  Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on April 16.  

To be selected to the LEC Winter All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be in good standing in their sport with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30.  The LEC announced a total of 2,276 student-athletes competing in the conference's current 21 championship sports to the LEC Academic Honor Roll in recognition of their academic performance in the fall 2024 semester. The LEC announced a total of 2,224 student-athletes competing in the conference's current 21 championship sports were named to the LEC Academic Honor Roll in recognition of their academic performance in the spring 2025 semester.To be named the LEC Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a semester GPA of 3.00 or better and have been an active member of the team at the conclusion of the term.

Virtue, a three-time member of both the CSC Academic All-District Team and the LEC All-Academic Team, averaged 7.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game with 40 assists, 24 steals, and 23 blocked shots while starting all 25 games at forward in 2024-25.  A graduate of Robert E. Fitch High School, Virtue has received LEC Academic Honor Roll recognition multiple times as an elementary education major at WestConn.  The Wolves, coached by Maria Conlon (1st Season), finished the 2024-25 campaign with a 5-20 overall record and finished tied with Castleton for seventh place in the LEC with a 3-13 mark against conference teams.
