WestConn's Conlon Inducted Into Greater New Haven Basketball Hall Of Fame

HAMDEN, Conn. - Western Connecticut State University Head Women's Basketball Coach Maria Conlon was inducted into the Greater New Haven Basketball Hall of Fame on Wednesday, May 22 at Cascades Restaurant.  Conlon was hired as WestConn's new head coach in October of 2024 after a highly-successful career as a head high school coach at Notre Dame (Fairfield) and Greens Farms Academy.  A 2005 graduate of the University of Connecticut and a three-time NCAA Division I National Champion as a member of the Huskies' women's basketball squad, won three conference titles and a State title and earned Connecticut HS Coach of the Year while at Notre Dame.  Conlon began her coaching career as a student assistant under the guidance of UConn Head Coach Geno Auriemma in 2004-05. She went on to coach an International team in Iceland, before serving as an assistant coach at Southern Connecticut State University and helping that program win the NCAA Division II National title in 2007.  Conlon is a Seymour native and also a member of the Connecticut Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.
