Moe Echevarria (Norwalk, Conn.) had two hits and two RBI to pace WestConn.
Senior Ryan Bagdasarian (Glastonbury) drove in five runs in the opener with two home runs and a double, and junior lefty Aidan Dunn (Westfield, MA) struck out six batters and allowed only one hit through three innings of his first career start in the nightcap to lead the Warriors.
Eastern (8-1, 4-0 LEC) collected 23 hits – including five home runs, five doubles and a triple – and was issued 14 walks and 12 wild pitches off seven WestConn (0-2, 0-2 LEC) pitchers in extending its win streak against the Colonials to ten.
Bagdasarian and junior Owen Marica (Haddam) each had four hits, three runs scored and reached safely five times each on the afternoon. Bagdasarian was 4-for-8 with five RBI and his three extra-base hits, Marica 4-for-7 with an RBI. Ten pitchers limited WestConn to 11 hits (nine of them singles) while fanning 27 and walking ten.
The Colonials will look to bounce back when they travel to league foe Southern Maine on April 9. Eastern visits Massachusetts Dartmouth Friday for a Little East noon doubleheader.
