WestConn Football Hires Ferguson As Wide Receivers Coach

DANBURY, Conn. – Western Connecticut State University Head Football Coach Kevin Jones has  announced the hiring of Julian Ferguson as an assistant football coach for the 2026 season.  An Enfield, Connecticut native, Ferguson brings first-hand experience competing and developing within the WestConn football program as a former standour wide receiver for the Wolves.  Ferguson attended Enfield High School and Capital Preparatory Magnet School in Hartford, before continuing his academic and athletic career at WestConn.  He earned his bachelor's degree in business management with a concentration in supervisory management in May.

Ferguson concluded his WestConn playing career in the fall of 2024 as one of the most accomplished wide receivers in program history.  He was a three-time Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) All-Conference First Team selection, a two-time D3Hoops.com All-Region honoree, and a Gold Helmet Award winner (2022). He finished his career as the all-time leader in receiving touchdowns for the Wolves, and helped lead WestConn to its first NCAA Division III Championship playoff appearance in more than 20 years in 2023 and its first ECAC Bowl game victory in 10 years in 2024. 

Ferguson participated in an NFL Pro Day at the University of Connecticut, where he worked out in front of representatives from the New England Patriots and other NFL teams. He started his own sports nutrition business in the spring of 2026, focusing on helping athletes improve their nutrition, performance, and overall health. His experience building a business has further developed his leadership, communication, relationship building, and organizational skills.
