WestConn Men's Basketball's Rancourt Named LEC Coach Of The Year

Three Wolves Players Collect All-Conference Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Western Connecticut State University Head Men's Basketball Coach Guy Rancourt (7th Season), has been honored as the Little East Conference (LEC) Men's Basketball Coach of the Year, while senior guard Tayejon Lynch (Cambria Heights, N.Y.) and sophomore center Marcel Henry (Yonkers, N.Y.) were named to the LEC All-Conference First Team, and senior guard Jahlyl Morgan (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) graced the LEC All-Defensive Team in 2025-26. 

Rancourt has guided WestConn to a 21-6 overall record, despite a 3-4 start, the 2026 LEC Regular Season and Tournament Championship titles, and to the program's first NCAA Division III Championship Tournament since 2020 this winter.  The Wolves will face Catholic in the NCAA First Round on Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Tufts University.  Rancourt has posted a 123-55 record in seven seasons at WestConn, winning the LEC title in 2020 and 2026 and reaching the conference finals in 2022, 2023, and 2024.  He was previously named the LEC Coach of the Year in 2020.

Lynch leads WestConn in assists with 127 (3rd in LEC) and steals with a LEC-best 61 and averages 13.1 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.  He also has 14 blocked shots and has shot 48.1 percent from the floor and 36.1 percent from long range while playing in all 27 games with 26 starts this winter.  He was named the Most Outstanding Player in the LEC Championship Tournament over the weekend, having scored 18 points with 10 rebounds and three assists in the conference finals win against Keene State.  A graduate of Our Savior Lutheran High School who came to Danbury in 2024 after a two-year career at Rockland Community College, Lynch is majoring in sports management at WestConn.

Henry leads WestConn in scoring at 15.4 ppg (10th in LEC), rebounding with 5.1 per game, and blocks with 30 (4th in LEC), while shooting 54.0 percent (7th in LEC) from the floor.  Henry also has 19 steals and 19 assists while playing in all 27 games with 26 starts this season.  Henry was named the LEC Player of the Week twice and the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Player of the Week once this winter.  A graduate of Iona Prep High School, Henry is majoring in finance at WestConn.

Morgan has started all 27 games this winter and is a ferocious defender in the backcourt.  He averages 7.0 ppg and 3.9 rebounds per game to go with 77 assists and 42 steals, while shooting 44.6 percent from the field.  A graduate of Poughkeepsie High School, Morgan is majoring in communications at WestConn.
