PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Western Connecticut State University Wolves were picked to finish sixth in the Little East Conference (LEC) 2026 Softball Coaches Pre-Season Poll. The Wolves received 29 points, 12 behind UMass Dartmouth and Southern Maine in a fourth-place tie and six more than seventh-place Castleton. WestConn, coached by
Heather Stone (19th Season), finished the 2025 campaign with a 24-20 overall record, its highest win total since 2015, and in fifth place in the LEC with an 8-8 mark against conference teams. The Wolves qualified for the LEC Championship Tournament, going 2-2 with wins over UMass Dartmouth and Southern Maine before falling to Eastern Connecticut in the consolation semifinals.
The Wolves will open the 2026 season in the Space Coast Games with 10 contests in Melbourne, Florida from March 14 to 20. WestConn's LEC and home opener is slated for Saturday, March 28 with a noon doubleheader against the Castleton Spartans. The Wolves also play two at home the next day against Cortland State and their first road games will take place on April 3 at Mount St. Mary in New York.
