Gretchen Bunovsky (Monroe, Conn.), seniors
Carly Cordova (East Haven, Conn.) and
Brianna Malvino (Glen Cove, N.Y.) and sophomore
Kendall Allen (Naugatuck, Conn.) were each named to the 2025 CSC Division III Academic All-District Softball Team. The foursome also joined seven other teammates on the Little East Conference (LEC) 2025 Spring All-Academic Team , while 17 Wolves graced the Little East Conference (LEC) 2024-25 Fall/Spring Academic Honor Rolls. Most recently, 13 WestConn softball players were announced as Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III Scholar -Athlete All-Americans. WestConn, coached by
Heather Stone (19th Season), finished the 2025 campaign with a 24-20 overall record, its highest win total since 2015, and in fourth place in the LEC with an 8-8 mark against conference teams. The Wolves qualified for the LEC Championship Tournament, going 2-2 with wins over UMass Dartmouth and Southern Maine before falling to Eastern Connecticut in the consolation semifinals.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® women's honorees will be announced on June 17.
To be selected to the LEC Winter All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be in good standing in their sport with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30. The LEC announced a total of 2,276 student-athletes competing in the conference's current 21 championship sports to the LEC Academic Honor Roll in recognition of their academic performance in the fall 2024 semester. To be named the LEC Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a semester GPA of 3.00 or better and have been an active member of the team at the conclusion of the term. NCAA Division III led the way with 2,565 student-athletes earning NFCA recognition with a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for 2024-25.
Bunovsky batted .283 (28-99) and slugged .404 with 20 runs, four doubles, a team-high four triples, and 19 RBIs while starting in all 42 games she played in the Wolves outfield. She also walked 12 times and stole 12 bases. Bunovsky, who transferred to WestConn as a graduate student in 2025 after an undergraduate career at Yale University, was a three-time Academic All-Ivy selection for the Bulldogs. An alum on Masuk High School, Bunovsky is majoring in chemistry at WestConn. Cordova batted .224 (15-67) with 12 runs, 12 walks, two doubles, and 21 RBIs in 42 games (41 starts) in the Wolves outfield this spring. An alum of East Haven High School, Cordova has earned LEC All-Academic and Academic Honor Roll recognition as a public health major at WestConn.
Malvino, a three-time Academic All-District selection, batted .275 (28-102) and slugged .422 with 11 runs, nine doubles, a team-high two homers, and 16 RBIs in 27 games (all starts) in the Wolves outfield. An alum of Glen Cove High School, Malvino has earned LEC All-Academic and Academic Honor Roll recognition multiple times as an allied health major at WestConn. Allen, a two-time All-LEC Second Team honoree, batted .318 this spring (42-132) with a team-high 30 RBIs while playing in all 44 games with 41 starts. Allen also totaled seven runs and eight doubles committed just four errors in 110 chances for a .964 fielding percentage, mostly at 2B, and tied for the team lead with eight double plays defensively. Allen was also an LEC All-Rookie honoree in 2024 and has been named to the LEC Academic Honor Roll multiple times. A graduate of Naugatuck High School, Allen is majoring in health education at WestConn.
