DANBURY, Conn. - Junior QB Dylan Jackson (Monroe, Conn.) threw for 367 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Western Connecticut State University Wolves to a 55-21 win over the visiting Gettysburg College Bullets in football action this afternoon on Family Weekend at Westside Athletic Complex.  WestConn improves to 2-0 and has won five games in a row dating back to November 2 of 2024.  The Wolves also extend their winning streak at home to 12 games, while the Bullets drop to 0-2.  WestConn will visit Kean next Saturday at 1 p.m., while Gettysburg falls to 0-3 with a 1 p.m. gamer against Franklin and Marshall next Saturday at 1 p.m.

WestConn jumped out to a 14-0 lead, taking advantage of a 42-yard return on the opening kickoff by junior Serge Lagardere (Stamford, Conn.) to score a touchdown on the game's first drive on a 14-yard run by senior RB Kamryn Holmes (Branford, Conn.).  Lagardere also caught a 20-yard pass during the drive.  Wolves senior LB Justin Ingebrigtsen (East Norwich, N.Y.) recorded an 11-yard sack fumble later in the first frame and the ball was recovered by classmate Nick Simmons (Middletown, N.Y.) at the Bullets' 22-yard line to set up the second WestConn touchdown on a four-yard toss from Jackson to sophomore WR Jayden Leroy (Danbury, Conn.) with 5:26 on the clock.  

Gettysburg answered with its first points on a 57-yard bomb down the right side from Sean Clark to Nick Wonsala on 4th-and-2 to make the score 14-7 at the end of the first quarter.  The Wolves tacked on three more touchdowns in the second frame, including scoring passes by Jackson of four yards to rookie WR Tamarion LaFortune (West Haven, Conn.) and of 31 yards to junior Thomas Schiavoni (Middletown, Del.) in the first five minutes of the quarter.  Junior S Ryan Rondeau (Carmel, N.Y.) sacked Clark for an eight-yard loss on 4th-and-4 at the Wolves 41yard line to set up the third WestConn touchdown of the second.  Holmes ran the ball on five of the next eight plays and finished the drive with his second score of the game on a four-yard run.  Wonsala scored his second touchdown 15 seconds before halftime on a six-yard pass from Clark to complete a 64-yard drive that was helped by 35 yards on Wolves penalties.

The defenses kept the score the same for the majority of the third quarter, until sophomore Marciel Do Amaral (Danbury, Conn.) booted his first career field goal from 25 yards away with 1:24 remaining before the final break.  Wolves senior CB Tyon Grimes (Hempstead, N.Y.) picked off Clark in the middle of the field and returned the ball to the Gettysburg 35-yard line in the final minute of the third, and junior RB Quasim Benson (Wilmington, Del.) scored his first touchdown on a seven-yard scamper five seconds into the fourth frame.  Clark connected on another long scoring pass moments later, hitting Gabriel Diaz on a 40-yard throw down the left side to make the score, 45-14 with 12:37 left to play.  The Wolves scored twice more, once on a 12-yard run by sophomore RB Antwan Davis (Bridgeport, Conn.) and lastly on an 18-yard Do Amaral field goal after sophomore LB Amari Taylor (Irvington, N.J.) had intercepted a Clark pass.

Jackson finished 23-for-32 and had one interception against his three touchdowns, while Clark completed 11 of 34 passes for 167 yards and three scores with two picks.  Holmes rushed 16 times for 81 yards and Benson had 11 carries for 44 yards.  Gettysburg RB Michael Zrelak had a game-high 88 rushing yards on 21 carries.  Schiavoni was the top receiver with five grabs for 113 yards, junior Markus Faucett (Bronx, N.Y.) had five catches for 96 yards, and Wonsala paced the Bullets with four catches for 79 yards.  Defensively, junior LB Eamon Moran (Stratford, Conn.) and sophomore S Tafari Johnson (Bronx, N.Y.) had six tackles apiece for the Wolves.  Ty Can totaled six tackles and an interception for the Gettysburg defense.
