DANBURY, Conn. - The Western Connecticut State University Wolves, coached by Dani McDonnell (21st Season), have qualified for the Little East Conference (LEC) Field Hockey Championship Tournament for the ninth time and the third year in a row and will visit the No. 4-seeded Vermont State University Castleton Spartans (7-10, 3-3) in the opening round on Tuesday, November 4 at 4 p.m. WestConn, seeded No. 5 in the tournament field, finished the 2025 regular season with a 7-10 overall record and a 2-4 mark in the league to tie Eastern Connecticut and Southern Maine for fourth place in the final standings.
The winner of the LEC Championship Tournament will determine the league's automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. Top-seeded Eastern Connecticut (11-8, 6-0) and No. 2-seeded Keene State (13-6, 5-1) have byes, while No. 3-seeded Eastern Connecticut (11-9, 4-2) hosts No. 6-seeded Plymouth State (5-11, 1-5) in the other first-round game Tuesday. The Panthers blanked the Wolves, 4-0, in the first-ever LEC Tournament meeting between the schools last autumn in the quarterfinals. The Spartans blanked the Wolves, 5-0, in their regular season meeting on October 4.
