DANBURY, Conn. - Western Connecticut State University has announced the hiring of Alex Berg as an assistant coach for the 2025-26 season. Berg comes to WestConn from Fairfield Ludlowe High School, where he was the offensive coordinator in 2024 and 2025. He has also coached at Fairfield Country Day School and with the Dragons Lacrosse AAU Club. Berg attended Wheaton College in Massachusetts, earning a bachelor's degree in chemistry in 2022. He was an all-league, all-academic selection and played in New England and National college all-star games while playing with the Lyons. Berg was nominated for and completed The Program Leadership development program.
WestConn, coached by Ryan Cavanagh (10th Season), finished the 2025 campaign with a 13-7 overall record and completed a perfect 8-0 run through the LEC conference to capture the regular season title. The Wolves downed Keene State, 17-7, and UMass Boston, 22-7, to win the LEC Championship Tournament and qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship Tourney for the second time in three seasons but lost at Babson in the NCAA First Round.
