MADISON, N.J.- The Western Connecticut State University men's soccer team fell at non-conference host Drew University, 1-0, on Wednesday night. With the loss, the Wolves dropped to 0-2 overall, while the Rangers improved to 2-1.
The hosts tallied the lone goal of the match when Tino Puentes took a feed from Jonathan Gutierrez and found the back of the net less than 24 minutes into the contest. It would stand up the rest of the way.
Three different netminders saw action between the pipes for the Wolves, collecting a combined eight saves. Drew netminder David Hoyt earned the shutout victory with eight saves. It marked the 400th career victory for Drew head coach Lenny Armuth.
The Wolves will seek to pierce the win column in their home opener against non-league foe Nichols College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
