Nickolas Santana (New Haven, Conn.) scored twice to lead the Western Connecticut State University Wolves to a 5-1 victory over the visiting Vermont State University Castleton Spartans in Little East Conference (LEC) men's soccer action. WestConn improves to 6--2-2 overall and 2-0 in the LEC while extending its unbeaten streak to six games (5-0-1). The Spartans fall to 2-4-3 overall and 0-2 in the league with their third loss in a row and sees its winless streak increase to seven games (0-4-3). The Wolves will visit Wesleyan next on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Santana netted his first career marker 2:22 into the second frame when he stole the ball from the Spartan defense and beat Berthaiume for WestConn's third goal. The Wolves took a 4-0 lead on Santana's second goal from sophomore

George Cortes (Fairfield, Conn.) made it 5-0 when he converted on WestConn's second penalty kick of the contest. Stanley Anderson scored a late goal for Castleton on a deep shot in the 75th minute. WestConn outshot Castleton, 29-14, and Benson finished with six of his team's eight saves among three goalkeepers. Berthiaume had sx stops and J.P. Maul added four saves for the Spartans.
