DANBURY, Conn. - The Western Connecticut State University Wolves and the visiting Wesleyan University Cardinals were tied, 3-3, after five innings, but the home team gave up 16 runs over the final four innings to lose, 19-3, in baseball action this afternoon at Westside Field. The Wolves fall to 5-23 and the Cardinals improve to 21-7. WestConn plays its third game in three days tomorrow at Hartford at 3 p.m. Freshmen

Ryan Vallie (East Haven, Conn.) each had two hits for the Wolves.
Wesleyan led, 3-0, after three innings, scoring one of the three runs on a first-inning homer by Evan Diaz. WestConn made it a one-run game with two unearned runs in the fourth inning, as Vallie led off with a single and scored on a throwing error and junior C Nick Moeller (Mahopac, N.Y.) added an RBI single later in the frame. Vallie singled again in the fifth and tied the game at 3-all on a two-out, two-run single by Salonia.
WestConn starter
Sam Capetanakis (Easton, Conn.) threw scoreless innings in the third, fourth and fifth, but Wesleyan plated five runs in the sixth force WestConn to use its bullpen. Jack Acker, who was 4-for-4, hit a two-run homer and Diaz added a two-run double in the top of the sixth. Freshman

Anthony Cusimano (Lagrangeville, N.Y.) singled for the lone WestConn hits after the fifth. Capetanakis gave up six hits and walked just one with six 's over 5.1 innings but fell to 1-3. Tanner Mahon collected the win for the Cardinals with four innings of relief.
