MEDFORD, Mass. - The Western Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team fell at third-ranked Tufts University, 22-2, on Saturday afternoon at Bello Field. Senior midfielder
Vicky Gracy (Bethel, Conn.) tallied her team-leading 18th goal of the season and handed out an assist to lead the Wolves.
Allie Zorn and Margie Carden each notched a hat trick and one assist to lead the nationally ranked hosts.
The Jumbos jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and would not look back. Sophomore attacker
Madison Ratchford (Ridge, N.Y.) got the Wolves on the board when she buried her 17th marker of the season off a nifty pass from Gracy.Â
However, Tufts answered quickly and would hold a 10-1 advantage at the break. The hosts stretched the lead to 14-1 before Gracy connected with the twine, power play style, midway thru the third quarter. The hosts ended the game with a 7-0 run.
With the loss, WestConn dropped to 4-3 overall while Tufts improved to 7-0. The Wolves return to action for yet another non-league matchup when they travel to Connecticut College on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
