KEENE, N.H. - Senior guard
Nicole Vivian tallied 20 points and nine rebounds to lead the Western Connecticut State University women's basketball squad to a come-from-beind victory at Keene State College, 59-55, in a Little East Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon at Spaulding Gym. Trailing 48-44 heading into the fourth quarter, the Wolves staged a rally, outscoring the Owls, 15-7, in the stanza to escape with the win.

Gabrielle Franks (Madison, Conn.) added 11 points, while junior forward
Alyssa Virtue (Groton, Conn.) pulled down a game-high 10 boards.Â
Brynn Rautiola led the hosts with a game-high 28 points which included 6-of-14 from three-point territory. Lilly Krysinski chipped in with 12 points and nine rebounds.Â
The Wolves won the battle on the glass, 36-25. Their bench also outscored the Owl reserves, 12-0.Â
Keene State opened the game with a 12-7 spurt before WestConn answered with a run, knotting the count at 12-12 when Vivian scurried down the lane for a layup during the waning seconds of the first quarter. The lead changed hands several times early in the second frame before the hosts built an eight-point cushion when Rautiola pulled up and drained a three-pointer at the halftime buzzer.Â
WestConn rallied in the third, deadlocking the count at 44-44 when Franks put home a shot off a feed from Vivian. However, the Owls retaliated to recapture a 48-44 lead to conclude the stanza. The Wolves fought back once again, evening the score at 51-51 when Franks sank a free throw with 4:52 remaining. Moments later, Vivian gave WestConn the lead for good when she buried a three-pointer to make it 54-51. The visitors would nail some more shots from the charity stripe down the stretch, completing the dramatic comeback.
With the victory, WestConn improved to 7-17 overall and 3-12 in league play, while Keene State dropped to 11-11 and 7-7. The Wolves get a week of practice before returning to the court for their regular season finale, hosting LEC foe UMass Dartmouth on Saturday at 1 p.m. (Senior Day).Â
