WestConn Women's Soccer Players Earns CSC And LEC Academic Honors

DANBURY, Conn. - Western Connecticut State University women's soccer seniors Suzana Imetovski (Seymour, Conn.), Annie Sobolewski (Lagrangeville, N.Y.) and Kaylee Tackson (Thompson, Conn.) were each named to the 2024 CSC Division III Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team.  The trio also joined juniors Emily Farrell (West Hempstead, N.Y.), Miranda Martincic (Whitestone, N.Y.) and Sophia Onek (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and sophomores Emma Kezys (East Northport, N.Y.), Jasmine Islami (Bethel, Conn.), and Gracen Regan (Monroe, N.J.) on the Little East Conference (LEC) 2024 Fall All-Academic Team. In addition, these nine joined eight other WestConn women's soccer players on the LEC Fall and Spring Academic Honor Rolls.  The Wolves, coached by Alex Harrison (9th season) finished the 2024 campaign with a 11-6-5 overall record and finished third in the LEC with a 4-1-3 record against conference teams. The Wolves qualified for the LEC Championship Tournament, winning, 5-1, against Plymouth State and, 2-1, at UMass Boston before falling at Southern Maine, 3-0, in the league finals.

The 2024 Academic All-District Men's and Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.  Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.  To be selected to the Fall All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be in good standing in their sport with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30. Over 440 student-athletes honored by the league and nine WestConn athletes all-conference and all-academic honors this fall.  Imetovski, Tackson, Onek and Regan graced both the Little East All-Academic squad and received an LEC Sportsmanship award this autumn.  The Little East Conference (LEC) announced a total of 2,276 student-athletes competing in the conference's current 21 championship sports were named to the LEC Academic Honor Roll in recognition of their academic performance in the Fall 2024 semester. To be named the LEC Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a semester GPA of 3.00 or better and have been an active member of the team at the conclusion of the term.

Imetovski, a four-time LEC All-Conference First Team honoree, led the Wolves in all offensive categories with nine goals and eight assists for 26 points on 87 shots with four game-winning markers.  She was one-for-two on penalty kicks and started all 22 games at forward this fall.  Imetovski was the LEC Rookie of the Year in 2021 and earned United Soccer Coach All-Region Third Team recognition in 2021 and 2022.  A graduate of Seymour High School, Imetovski is a three-time CSC Academic All-District selection, an LEC All-Academic Team and Academic Honor roll member multiple times. and the WestConn Senior Female Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2023 and 2024 as a biology major.  Sobolewski was a key cog in the WestConn defense that allowed 1.05 goals and 13.5 shots per game and recorded eight shutouts this fall.  She recorded one assist at the offensive end and appeared in all 22 games with 16 starts on the back line.  Sobolewski was on the 2023 CSC Academic All-District Team as a WestConn swimmer and has been an LEC All-Academic Team and Academic Honor Roll member multiple times.   A graduate of Arlington High School, Sobolewski was the WestConn Senior Female Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2023 and 2024 as a nursing major.  Tackson, an All-LEC Second Team honoree this fall and Third Team honoree in 2023, played a major role on the WestConn defense that allowed 1.05 goals and 13.5 shots per game and recorded eight shutouts.  She scored three goals and added an assist for seven points on just five shots while starting all 22 games in the WestConn backfield.  A graduate from Tourtellotte Memorial High School, Tackson is an LEC Academic Honor Roll member as a nursing major at WestConn.
