Gracen Regan (Monroe, N.J.) denied all scoring attempts in the Western Connecticut State University women's soccer team's 0-0 tie at the Westside Athletic Complex on Saturday. The Wolves moved to 1-0-2, while the Ducks are now 1-0-1 overall.
WestConn's best chances to score came in the final three minutes of the first half. A corner kick by

Shannon Anderson (New Milford, Conn.) to put a shot on goal, but the visitors' goalkeeper Emelia DaPonte made a diving save. Before Anderson got her shot off, several Wolves bobbled it around the goal box with several close shot attempts, but Stevens' defense stood tall. Twenty seconds later, Anderson had an opportunity to draw the first blood, but the ball just barely ricocheted off the top of the woodwork before going out of bounds.
The Ducks outshot the hosts 12-6, but only had seven shots on goal, while the Wolves mustered five. Stevens were also awarded eight corner kicks, while WestConn drew a trio. Anderson and
Leah Tomeo (West Islip, N.Y.) led the Wolves in shots on goal with three and two, respectively. Regan made seven saves and DaPonte denied five.
WestConn hits the road tomorrow for a noon match against St. Joseph's University Long Island.
