Cameron Bogli (Vernon, Conn.), who also knocked a single to start off the bottom half of the frame.
The Skidmore lead ballooned to 12-2 before Royka stepped up to the plate with two runners in scoring position. His liner to center scored both, shrinking the gap to 12-4 in the sixth.
WestConn added another pair of runs in the eighth. Juniors
Stanley Roman (Danbury, Conn.) and
Nicholas Bruno (Naugatuck, Conn.) stroked back-to-back RBI doubles to round the scoring out at 16-6.
With the loss, WestConn dropped to 3-13 overall while the Thoroughbreds improved to 8-4. The Wolves return to action when they head to Ramapo College on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
