Filipe Dutra (Naugatuck, Conn.) tallied an unassisted goal while sophomore forward
Jordan Dacosta (Jamaica, N.Y.) added another to lead the Western Connecticut State University men's soccer team to a 2-0 win at non-conference foe Western New England University on Tuesday night at Suprenant Field.
With the victory, the Wolves remained undefeated, improving to 8-0 overall, while the Golden Bears dropped to 4-3-1.
The visitors held possession of the rock most of the way en route to outshooting the hosts, 15-8. They also notched a corner kick advantage, 8-5.
After a blast from the corner, Dacosta took a pass from senior midfielder
Eduardo Vargas (Norwalk, Conn.) and found the back of the net for his fourth goal of the campaign to put the Wolves ahead less than a minute before halftime, 1-0.
The Wolves would add an insurance goal after another corner kick opporunity when Dutra gathered a loose ball and fired a shot into the twine, unassisted. It marked his third goal of the season.
WestConn rookie goalkeeper
Zachary Benson (Milford, Conn.) racked up a pair of saves to earn the win, while WNEU netminder Roger LeLand turned aside six shots.
The Wolves will look to extend the win streak when they host non-league opponent Lehman College on Thursday at 6 p.m.
