DANBURY, Conn. - The Western Connecticut State University field hockey team dropped a 2-0 decision to visiting Ramapo College at the Westside Athletic Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
Ramapo, now 4-1 and winners of four straight, registered its second shut out of the season while the Wolves have now dropped three straight after opening the season at 2-0.
The Roadrunners took a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute when graduate student Mariah Tovar notched her second goal of the season after a short feed from sophomore Julianna Genilucci.
The visitors held the slim lead until 11:07 into the second half when Victoria Docherty put away her team-leading sixth marker of the campaign. Tover was credited with the assist on the insurance goal.
Senior
Kayla Hnasko (Raritan, N.J.) suffered the loss in the cage for WestConn after making seven saves over the first 45 minutes.
Classmate
Alyssa Manocchi (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) made one stop in the final stanza.
Graduate student
Madison McColl (Rutland, Mass.) has a stellar performance inside the arc on Wednesday. She made a season-high three defensive saves for the Wolves.
Michelle Kukan earned the shut out without having to make a save for the winners.
WestConn, now 2-3, travel to University of Southern Maine this Saturday, September 17. Game time against the Huskies is set for 11 am.
The Roadrunners play host to Vassar College on Saturday in a 1 pm scheduled face off.
