Vigo & Villalba Net Two Goals Apiece as Wolves Cruise

DANBURY, Conn. – Junior midfielder Daniel Villalba (Fairfield, Conn.) and rookie forward Maximus Vigo (Canton, Mich.) each tallied two goals as the Western Connecticut State University men's soccer team cruised to a 6-1 victory over visiting non-league foe Westfield State University on Monday night at the Westside Athletic Complex.

It was all WestConn wire-to-wire. The Wolves pounced on the Owls less just 22 seconds into the contest when sophomore midfielder Kadin Talho (Waterbury, Conn.) headed in a feed from rookie forward Erik Lorent (Shelton, Conn.).

Villalba netted his first and second goals of the season later in the opening half as the hosts reeled off a three-goal spurt in just under four minutes.

Sophomore forward Jordan Dacosta (Jamaica, N.Y.) rounded out the flurry streaked towards the net to chip home a long pass from first year forward Ian Mounts (Middletown, Conn.), stretching the advantage to 4-0.

The Wolves were relentless in the second stanza. Vigo tallied a pair of goals on feeds from Mounts and sophomore midfielder Zachary Lombardo (Middletown, Conn.).

Westfield State was able to break up the shut out when senior midfielder Matthew Allen (Southwick, Mass.) was fouled inside the box. He subsequently netted his team leading third goal of the year on the penalty kick.

With the win, WestConn improved to 5-0 overall while the visitors dropped to 0-3-2. The Wolves will look to extend the streak when they host non-conference opponent John Jay College on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
