WestConn Win Streak Grows Following 7-0 Win Over John Jay

DANBURY, Conn. - Senior reserve Marc Kyriakidis (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) scored a pair of goals and five other Western Connecticut State University men's soccer players tallied goals in Wednesday night's 7-0 victory over visiting John Jay College at the Westside Athletic Complex.

The Wolves have opened the season with seven straight wins and have now outscored their opponents 24-4 heading into Saturday's Little East Conference opener against Rhode Island College at the WAC.

Opening the scoring, in the ninth minute for the winners, was Payton Blynn (New Milford, Conn.).  He scored his fourth goal in the eighth minute, after depositing a rebound off his own shot attempt.

After a lengthy review in the booth, Jordan Decosta (Jamaica, N.Y.) was credited for his third goal after blasting a shot, following a feed from Kadin Talho (Waterbury, Conn.) at the 15:57 mark.

Senior Franz Muhaj (Bridgeport, Conn.) rattled off his first goal of the season following an assist from speedster Erik Lorent (Shelton, Conn.) in the 27th minute.

Closing out the first half's scoring was Simon Osorio (Bridgeport, Conn.) with his first goal of the season at 44:16.

Kyriakidis scored the Wolves' next two goals before Andrew Restrepo (Bridgeport, Conn.) closed out the scoring with 15 seconds remaining.

WestConn used three keepers, each hovered around 30 minutes of time between the pipes.  Zachary Benson (Milford, Conn.) was unchallenged in his 30, while Justin Figueiredo (Newtown, Conn.) and Matthew Silva (Danbury, Conn.) each made one stop.

The Wolves out shot the Bloodhounds, which drop to 0-5 on the year, 36-7.

Tyler Solis, despite yielding five goals, was outstanding for John Jay as he made eight saves, many from point-blank range.

Art Langlet and Aaron Pagoada each made one save for the visitors.
