Box Score DANBURY, Conn. - The Western Connecticut State University men's tennis team served up a 7-2 defeat to visiting Purchase College at Westside Courts on Wednesday afternoon.
The Wolves went up 2-1 after doubles play including a solid start to finish for
Sebastian Frisch and
Mitchell Kindred over Simon Montalvo and Freddy Kaden at second-flight pairs. The hosts captured the game, 8-2.
After being down 4-1 in the set, Calem Harris and
Jerry Narcisse won seven of the next eight games to come back and win at #3 doubles, 8-5
In singles action, WestConn won five out of six matches against the Panthers.
Harris,
Nicholas Peschier and Kindred took care of business at 4, 5 & 6 singles, respectively.Â
Frisch fought game for game with Ben Joory but eventually pulled out the second set, and win the match 6-2, 7-5 at #2 singles.
JayKilcourse, at #3 singles, clinched the match victory with a 7-6, 6-1 decision over Montalvo.
"I was very pleased with our teams play today," said Wolves head coach
Shawn Stillman. "The early turning point was the great comeback win by Narcisse and Harris at #3 doubles. That set an early tone with us taking an early 2-1 lead and our guys didn't look back from there."
WestConn will make up a home match against Lehman College on Thursday, April 21. First serve is slated for 3:30 pm.
