Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Wolves Down UMass Dartmouth, 21-3

DARTMOUTH, Mass. - Senior Dominique DeMarsico (Danbury, Conn.), sophomores Vicky Gracy (Bethel, Conn.) and Collen Crotty (Peabody, Mass.) each netted four goals to lead the Western Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team to a 21-3 victory at UMass Dartmouth in a Little East Conference matchup on Tuesday evening.

With the win, the Wolves - who WestConn announced as their new nickname earlier today - improved to 10-4 overall and 4-0 in league play, while the Corsairs dropped to 1-11 and 0-3.

Junior attack Alexa Riggio (North Massapequa, N.Y.) also tallied a hat trick for the visitors, while three different players notched one goal for the hosts in the loss.

Junior netminder Anna Schipf (North Babylon, N.Y.) finished with two saves, in the first half, for WestConn in the winning effort. Sophomore Molly Bresnahan (Noank, Conn.) made one save over the final 30 minutes for the winners.

Payton Conceicao was faced with a barrage of shots and finished with 16 saves for UMass Dartmouth.

It was all Wolves from the start as junior midfielder Colleen Foley (Kingston, Mass.) connected for her 13th goal of the season less than six minutes into the contest.

Riggio would follow up with all of her three goals in a consecutive manner, extending the WestConn lead to 5-1 to conclude the first quarter. They would widen the gap to 12-2 at halftime.

DeMarsico would reach the 50 goal plateau when she fired a shot into the twine in the third quarter. She leads the squad in goals this season. Gracy also eclipsed the 40 goal mark en route to reaching 42 on the evening.

WestConn returns to action at LEC foe Plymouth State on Saturday at 11 a.m. They then host a pair of LEC regular season contests against Eastern and Southern Maine before the postseason play begins on May 3.
