Vicky Gracy scored four goals to lead the Western Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team to a 7-6 victory at Plymouth State University on Saturday afternoon.
The Wolves, now 11-3 overall, take sole possession of first place, at 5-0, of the Little East Conference regular-season standings with two games remaining.
The Panthers drop to 10-5 overall and 4-1 in league action.
WestConn trailed by three goals, 6-3 before rattling off the game's final four goals including a pair from Gracy and one from
Dominique DeMarsico in the final period.
Gracy knotted the game at 6-6 with her 46th tally of the season at the 4:46 mark of the final stanza.
DeMarsico's free-position goal with 2:55 remaining in regulation proved to be the game-winning marker. It was her team-leading 53rd goal of the year. She finished the day with the hat-trick and an assist for the winners.
Emily Santom led Plymouth State with three goals and an assist.
Anna Schipf earned the victory between the pipes after making seven saves. Her counterpart, Piper Sherbert turned away 17 Wolves attempts on the day.
Since the LEC began conducting a post-season tournament in 2022, the Panthers have captured eight titles. WestConn was crowned champions last April and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Division III national tournament.
WestConn closes out the regular season with a pair of home games next week beginning with a match against intra-state rival Eastern Connecticut State University. Game time on Tuesday, April 26 is slated for 5 pm at the Westside Athletic Complex. The Wolves play host to University of Southern Maine in the regular-season finale next Saturday at 1 pm.
