Debes Notches 14 Kills as Women's Volleyball Blanks Farmingdale, 3-0

DANBURY, Conn. - Senior middle hitter Abbi Debes (New Milford, Conn.) tallied a match-high 14 kills to lead the Western Connecticut State University women's volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-22) victory over visiting non-conference opponent Farmingdale State on Wednesday night at Feldman Arena. She also added a pair of blocks while junior setter Rory McMaster (Canton, Mich.) dished out 24 assists.

It was all WestConn wire-to-wire as they jumped all over the Rams. Graduate student Victoria Korzan (Southbury, Conn.) floored the final point to give the hosts the 1-0 set advantage.

The hosts would breeze thru the second set before Farmingdale attempted a rally in the third. The Rams jumped out to a 14-11 lead in the final frame. However, the hosts displayed their tenacity and rebounded to finish the contest strong. Graduate student Victoria Alomar (Naranjito, P.R.) smashed a kill before Farmingdale committed an error to wrap up the match.

WestConn improved to 3-2 overall while Farmingdale fell to 0-3. WestConn returns to action at non-conference foe Wesleyan University on Friday at 7 p.m.
