Women's Volleyball Falls at Wesleyan, 3-0

Box Score MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Despite a team-high nine kills from graduate student Victoria Korzan (Southbury, Conn.), the Western Connecticut State University women's volleyball team fell at non-conference opponent Wesleyan University, 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-21) on Friday night. With the loss, WestConn dropped to 3-3 overall. They return to action tomorrow when they host a tri-match with RIT and St. Joseph's College (LI) to begin a six-match homestand.

Other key contributors in the loss to Wesleyan included senior middle hitter Abbi Debes (New Milford, Conn.) who tallied a .357 hitting percentage on the strength of eight kills to go along with a solo block. Junior setter Rory McMaster (Canton, Mich.) also racked up 24 assists.

Wesleyan won the first set in convincing fashion.

The visitors then seized a 12-8 lead in the second and a 14-9 lead in the third. However, the hosts clawed their way back into each set it and eventually cemented wins when Maddie Kurke painted the floor to conclude each stanza.
