Taylor Rohan (Yonkers, N.Y.) chipped in with six apeice to lead the Western Connecticut State University women's volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-18) victory over the University of St. Joseph in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday evening at Feldman Arena.
With the win, WestConn notched its fifth-straight shutout, improving to 8-4 overall. The Blue Jays dropped to 2-4.
The contest was close in the opening set. However, WestConn put together a 9-2 run to seize control and eventually capture the opening set. The second frame was much closer. However, the hosts would not relenquish the late lead en route to the win. The flow of the final stanza was similar to the opener as WestConn cruised to a 25-18 victory.
Rohan racked up three solo blocks, while junior setter
Rory McMaster (Canton, Mich.) dished out a match-high 29 assists.
Senior Hannah Benson (Terryville, Conn.) and sophomore Claire Quinn (Canton, Mass.) paced St. Joseph with five kills each.
WestConn returns to action for an LEC battle at Keene State on Saturday at Noon.
