DANBURY, Conn. - Senior outside hitter
Ali Brochu (Winsted, Conn.) tallied a match-high 11 kills to lead the Western Connecticut State University women's volleyball squad to a shutout win over visiting non-league opponent Trinity College, 3-0 (25, 19, 25-18, 25-22) on Wednesday evening at Feldman Arena. With the win, WestConn improved to 5-4 overall, while the Bantams dropped to 2-3.

Rory McMaster (Canton, Mich.) contributed with 29 assists, while senior middle hitter
Abbi Debes (New Milford, Conn.) chipped in with nine floors for WestConn. Junior
Taylor Rohan (Yonkers, N.Y.) was a force at the net as she racked up four kills without committing an error to go along with a pair of solo blocks and three block assists.Â
Sophomore outsider hitter Lola Craig (Los Angeles, Calif.) paced the visitors with nine kills, while senior setter Locke Luhnow (Encino, Calif.) handed out 13 assists.Â
WestConn won the first two sets in convincing fashion before Trinity put up a strong effort in the third and final set. The Bantams held a 22-19 advantage before WestConn reeled off the final six points to clinch the win. Debes notched back-to-back kills to deadlock the count at 22-22 before notching the game-winner on a Trinity unforced error.Â
WestConn returns to the court when they host Rhode Island College in their Little East Conference opener on Saturday at Noon. They square off against Sarah Lawrence in a non-league tilt later in the afternoon.Â
