Gracy & Foley Lead Women's Lacrosse to 21-2 Victory Over UMass-Dartmouth

DANBURY, Conn. - Sophomore midfielder Colleen Foley (Kingston, Mass.) and rookie attacker Victoria Gracy (Bethel, Conn.) notched four goals apiece to lead the Western Connecticut State University to a 21-2 victory over visiting Little East Conference opponent UMass-Dartmouth on Wednesday night at the Westside Athletic Complex.

Gracy also added an assist for her game-high five points. With the win, the Colonials earned the top seed in next week's LEC Postseason Tournament, while clinching at least a tie as regular season champions. WestConn (6-0 overall) will look to capture the crown in the season finale at Castleton on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. The LEC Tournament is slated to begin on Tuesday. WestConn will host a team to be determined in the LEC Semifinals on Thursday.

Junior attacker Dominique DeMarsico (Danbury, Conn.) added a hat trick for the Colonials, while seniors Caroline Galligan (Marshfield, Mass.), Alyssa Carpentieri (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) and junior Brianna Pota (East Meadow, N.Y.) chipped in with two goals each.

Junior midfielder Bella Mancini (Bellingham, Mass.) paced the Corsairs (0-7 overall) with a pair of goals, while rookie Widline Thomas (Stamford, Conn.) played a solid game, finishing with three draw controls and a pair of ground balls.

WestConn dominated play outshooting the visitors by a 36-6 margin. They were also nearly perfect on clear attempts, going 16-for-17, while winning the draw control battle, 20-5.

Sophomore goalkeeper Anna Schipf (Babylon, N.Y.) stopped one shot and improved to 6-0 overall for the Colonials, while rookie netminder Tahlia Amaral (Acushnet, Mass.) fell to 0-7 and registered 11 saves for the Corsairs.

"We're grateful for another game and another win. It was a great team effort today," said WestConn head coach Meghan Els following the game. "We continue to get better everyday and I am proud of the hard work that has been put into this season thus far. This group is special and we are staying focused and hungry as we move onto the playoffs," she concluded.
