Victoria Korzan (Southbury, Conn.) tallied her 1,000th career dig as the WestConn women's volleyball team breezed to a pair of victories over Little East Conference host UMass-Dartmouth, 3-1 (25-18, 22-25, 25-10, 25-17) and non-conference opponent Salve Regina, 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-21) on Saturday afternoon at Tripp Athletic Center.
With the wins, WestConn improved to 15-6 overall and 4-2 in league play. UMD moved to 8-8 and 3-3 while Salve Regina went to 9-8 overall.Â
Korzan racked up season-highs of 15 kills and 20 digs in the opener against UMD, while senior
Abbi Debes (New Milford, Conn.) added 14 floors to go along with a trio of solo and three block assists. Junior setter
Rory McMaster (Canton, Mich) chipped in with a match-high 39 helpers.
Graduate student
Ali Brochu (Winsted, Conn.) led the charge in the win over Salve Regina, bashing a match-high 12 kills, while junior
Taylor Rohan (Yonkers, N.Y.) added eight without committing an error for a whopping .800 hitting percentage. McMaster added a match-high 28 assists, while Korzan contributed three service aces.
WestConn has now won eight of its last nine matches and will look to continue the momentum when they square off against visiting LEC nemesis UMass-Boston on Senior Night at Feldman Arena on Friday at 7 p.m.
