Four Different Players Score as Women's Soccer Extends Win Streak to Four with 4-1 win at Manhattanville

Box Score

PURCHASE, NY – Four different players found the back of the net as the WestConn women's soccer team claimed its fourth consecutive win with a 4-1 victory at non-conference opponent Manhattanville College on Wednesday night. With the win, the Colonials evened their record at 6-6 overall while the Valiants fell to 2-7.

Despite being outshot, 18-12 and being edged in corner kicks, 4-2, the visitors made the most of their scoring opportunities.

The Colonials jumped on the board just 1:44 into the contest when senior Aileen Maloney (Trumbull, CT) took a pass from rookie Nicolette Stocks (Bethel, CT) and blasted a shot in from 18 yards away.

Shortly thereafter, rookie forward Kaleigh Panek (Shelton, CT) tallied her team-leading sixth goal of the season when she stole the ball from a defender and fired a shot in off the Manhattanville goalie's hands, extending the WestConn lead to 2-0.

The gap widened to 3-0 shortly before halftime when sophomore Ashely Cross (Lagrangeville, NY) tapped the ball into the open side of the net off a corner kick feed.

The hosts cut the deficit to 3-1 early in the second half when Ashley Pacheco scored on a rebound attempt. However, the Colonials responded just two minutes later when first-year forward Amina Bailey (East Hartford, CT) beat a Valiant defender to a long ball from junior Courtney Ravo (Bethel, CT) and tickled the twine, rounding the scoring out at 4-1.

Rookie goalkeeper Samantha Camacho (Bridgeport, CT) improved to 2-0 for the Colonials while stopping six shots. Manhattanville netminder Alexa Pyatsky dropped to 1-7 and recorded five saves.

"It was another strong effort from our team," said WestConn head coach Alex Harrison after the action. "We've got some momentum heading into this weekend's league game," he added.

WestConn returns to action for a Little East Conference tilt at Rhode Island College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
