PAWTUCKET, RI - Western Connecticut State University senior goalie Jillian Fernandez (Columbia, CT) and sophomore back Jasmine Grey (Naugatuck, CT) have been honored by the Little East Conference as the Women's Soccer Goalkeeper and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for the week ending September 10.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Jillian Fernandez (Columbia, Conn.), Senior, Western Connecticut State

Senior Jillian Fernandez led Western Connecticut to a 2-0 week posting nine saves while allowing just one goal. The senior stopped seven shots in a 2-1 overtime victory over Vassar and shutout Scranton 3-0 over the weekend.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jasmine Grey (Naugatuck, Conn.), Sophomore, Western Connecticut

Jasmine Grey fortified a Colonials defense that allowed just one goal in a 2-0 week. Grey helped Western Connecticut to a 3-0 win over Scranton to improve to 4-0 on the season.
