DANBURY, Conn. - The Western Connecticut State University Wolves, coached by Alex Harrison (11th Season), have clinched the No. 3 seed in the Little East Conference (LEC) Women's Soccer Championship Tournament beginning this weekend. WestConn has had a favorable history in the tournament, holding 12 LEC Championships, and impressively qualifying for the tournament in all 26 seasons of the team's play. The Wolves, who have reached the finals in each of the last 10 LEC Championship Tournaments, will open tournament play when they host the No. 6-seeded Keene State College Owls (6-7-4, 3-3-2) on Saturday, October 31 at 5:30 p.m.

The LEC Championship Tournament not only awards a trophy, but also determines which team captures the league's automatic qualification to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.  Eastern Connecticut (11-2-2, 6-0-2) and UMass Boston (6-5-4, 5-2-1) receive first round byes, while No. 4-seeded Southern Maine (8-9-2, 4-3-1) will host No. 5-seeded Rhode Island College (8-6-3, 3-2-3) on Halloween in an attempt to survive and advance. The winners of these matches will move on to the LEC Championship semifinals, which will be held on Wednesday, Nov 4. The finals is set for Saturday, Nov. 7, with the highest remaining seed to host and the match time TBA.

WestConn endured seven ties this season and earned five of their six victories away from home. The Wolves were 5-2-1 in their road matches including two shutouts. The Wolves and the Owls last faced each other in the 2024 LEC Tournament opening round, and WestConn blanked them, 3-0.  Wolves junior forward Shannon Anderson (New Milford, Conn.) is among the top scorers in the conference with seven goals, followed closely by sophomore teammate Delaney Israel (Medford, N.Y.) with six markers. Senior goalkeeper Gracen Regan (Monroe, N.J.) ranks third in the league in save percentage at .855 with four shutouts. Senior Abby Corocoran (Newington, Conn.) has two goals while starting every game along with classmate Morgan Fontaine (Stamford, Conn.) and freshman Sienna Smith (Manchester, Conn.).
