Western Connecticut State University

Chuck Byrne enters his third season as an assistant coach for the Western Connecticut State University men's lacrosse program.  A native of New Rochelle, New York, Byrne played collegiately at both SUNY Cobleskill (03’-04’) and WestConn (05’-06’) and served as team captain for both universities. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history from WestConn in 2007.

Byrne started his coaching career at the high school level, coaching at Foran High School in Milford as the defensive coordinator for seven seasons. Byrne helped lead Foran to a Southern Connecticut Conference championship in the 2022 season. Since joining WestConn as a coach in 2023, Byrne has helped the Wolves to LEC regular season championships in both 2023 and 2024, and to the LEC Tournament Championship and the NCAA Division III Championship Second Round in 2023.
