Jeff Shaw

Jeff Shaw joined the WestConn Wolves baseball coaching staff in 2023-24, bringing with him over 25 years of coaching experience at various levels. Shaw has coached American Legion baseball at the junior and senior levels, Team Connecticut Baseball, Southington AAU Baseball and most recently Tolland High School and the Southington Black Knights of the Connecticut Collegiate Baseball League.

Shaw's coaching philosophy is simple “coaching is teaching, taking the player where they are and developing their skills so that they can succeed. Everyone is different and takes different paths. It’s up to the coach to recognize that and create an environment to develop their skills and continue to improve."

Shaw is a retired teacher and administrator who served for 36 years in  Connecticut public schools, including 29 years at Southington High School. He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a bachelor's degree in music education, and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction. He also earned a 6th year degree in administration for Central Connecticut State University. Shaw comes from a family of teachers, his father at the collegiate level and mother at the public-school level.  Shaw and Laura, his wife of 41 years have three sons, RJ, Ted and Brett, all baseball players.
