PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The visiting Western Connecticut State University Wolves handed the Plymouth State University Panthers a 2-1 loss in Little East Conference (LEC) women's soccer action this afternoon at Arold Field. WestConn improves to 4-1-3 overall and 2-0 in the LEC while extending its unbeaten streak to five games (4-0-1). The Panthers fall to 4-2 overall and 0-2 in the league. Corcoran scored the first goal of the game in the 10th minute, seconds after WestConn junior forward
Shannon Anderson (New Milford, Conn.) had her shot saved by Plymouth State goalie Liv Desruisseaux. Freshman
Leah Tomeo (West Islip, N.Y.) assisted Marcuss after a corner kick to give the visitors a 2-0 lead 11:10 into the contest. WestConn senior goalkeeper
Gracen Regan (Monroe, N.J.) had to make two of her three saves of the first half in the first five minutes of the game, while Desruisseaux had five saves before the break.
Piper Sullivan fed Maggie MacDonald to get the Panthers on the board in the 87th minute, but the home team did not threaten in the final two minutes. Marcuss forced Desruisseaux to make her eighth save as time expired, while Regan finished the game with five stops. Shots are corner kicks were relativelt even, but the Panthers will whistled for 10 fouls to just five for WestConn. Anderson paced both offenses with four shots.
