Delaney Israel (Medford, N.Y.) scored the game-tying goal in the 79th minute, as the Western Connecticut State University Wolves and the visiting Russell Sage College Gators finished deadlocked at 1-1 in women's soccer action this evening at Westside Stadium. WestConn is now 4-1-4, extending its unbeaten streak to four games (2-0-2), and Sage moves to 5-2-1 and snaps a two-game losing skid. The Wolves will host Little East Conference (LEC) rival UMass Dartmouth next on Saturday at 5 p.m.
Israel received a pass from rookie
Leah Tomeo (West Islip, N.Y.) and brought the ball nea the right corner of the box before firing past Sage goalie Isabella Clute to tie the game with 10:21 remaining. The score remained the same the rest of the way, as neither team recorded a shot after the Wolves goal. WestConn senior goalkeeper
Gracen Regan (Monroe, N.J) finished with two saves, as the Wolves outshot the Gators, 16-4. Sage's Emma Fogarty had six saves in the first half and Clute made three in the second stanza.
The visitors had taken a 1-0 lead just 1:17 into the contest when Anna Shepard scored from Madeline Fazziola. Regan had to make a save against Sage's Emma Dos Santos moments later, while Fogerty had to make three of her stops in the first 10 minutes of the contest.
