PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Western Connecticut State University Wolves were picked to finish fifth in the Little East Conference (LEC) Field Hockey 2026 Pre-Season Poll. The Wolves, coached by Dani McDonnell (22nd Season), posted a 7-11 overall record and took fifth place in the league standings last fall.  WestConn lost to Vermont State University Castleton in the conference semifinals. Eastern Connecticut State University earned 45 points and four first-place votes to rank No. 1 in the 2026 LEC Field Hockey Preseason Poll, while Keene State University was next with 44 points and three first-place votes. To round out the top three, Southern Maine University had one first-place vote for 40 points. Castleton was fourth with 28 points and WestConn had 25 points for the fifth spot.

The Wolves open the 2026 season at home against Dean College in the first game played on a brand-new artificial turf at the Westside Athletic Complex on Tuesday, September 1 at 7 p.m.  WestConn will open league play on September 26 against UMass Dartmouth and its final game of the 20-game slate will be on the road at Plymouth State University on Halloween at 11 a.m.
