PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Western Connecticut State University Wolves were picked to finish second in the Little East Conference (LEC) Men's Soccer 2026 Pre-Season Poll.  The Wolves, coached by Joe Mingachos (11th Season), posted a 13-6-3 overall record and won all eight of their games against conference teams take first place in the league standings last fall.  WestConn downed UMass Dartmouth, 2-0, but lost, 2-1, against UMass Boston in the 2025 LEC Finals.  UMass Boston received 63 points and seven first-place votes to rank No. 1 in the 2026 LEC Men's Soccer Pre-Season Poll, while WestConn was next with 58 points and two first-place votes. Southern Maine was third with 43 points, followed by Eastern Connecticut with 42 points to round out the top four selections. 

The Wolves open the 2026 season at home against Western New England in the first game played on a brand-new artificial turf at the Westside Athletic Complex on Tuesday, September 1 at 4 p.m..  WestConn will open league play on September 11 against Castleton and its final game of the 20-game slate will be at LEC rival Keene State on Saturday, October 24 at 4 p.m.  WestConn faces No. 23-ranked UMass Boston on Homecoming Saturday, October 3 at 6 p.m. and visits No. 7-ranked Wheaton (Mass.) on Labor Day (Sept. 7).
