WestConn Men's Lacrosse Hosts Plymouth State In LEC Semifinals Thursday

DANBURY, Conn. - The Western Connecticut State University men's lacrosse team, coached by Ryan Cavanagh (11th Season), has qualified for the Little East Conference (LEC) Championship Tournament for the 18th time and the seventh year in a row. Defending LEC Champion WestConn is seeded No. 1 in the six-team field for the fourth consecutive season and has earned a bye into the semifinal round when the Wolves will host the No. 5-seeded Plymouth State Panthers on Thursday, April 30 at 7 p.m. The Wolves finished the 2026 regular season with a 14-3 overall record, its sixth full season of double digit victories in a row, and won the league's regular season crown with a perfect 8-0 mark against Little East opponents.  Admission on Thursday is free and the game will be following an LEC Women's Lacrosse Semifinal between WestConn and Plymouth State Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

The winner of the Little East Championship Tournament will determine the league's automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. No. 2-seeded Massachusetts Maritime received the other first-round bye, and will play No. 3-seeded UMass Boston who downed No.6-seeded Eastern Connecticut, 13-9.  The Panthers upset No. 4-seeded Keene State, 17-6, on Tuesday night. The LEC Championship Finals will take place on Saturday, May 2 at the site of the highest remaining seed with the winner earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament later this month.  WestConn won its first LEC title in 2008 and its second in 2023.  The Wolves lost to Plymouth State at home in the 2024 finals but took its third league crown last spring with a 22-7 win over UMass Boston.
